TRENVA – PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Trenva collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over your data.

By using Trenva, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy.

For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at [email protected].

1. Information We Collect ▲

We collect only the information we need to run the marketplace and serve you better:

  • Account information: Your full name, email address, and phone number when you create an account.
  • Delivery information: Your delivery address, city, and state — collected only when you place an order, so we know where to send your items.
  • Order information: Details of products you purchase, order amounts, delivery fees, payment method used, and order status.
  • Payment information: Payments are processed securely through our payment partners (such as Paystack). Trenva does not store your card numbers or bank account details — those are handled directly by the payment processor under their own security standards.
  • Communications: Messages you send to our support team, product reviews you write, and feedback you provide.
  • Technical information: Your device type, browser type, IP address, and pages you visit. This helps us improve the site and keep it secure.
  • Cookies: We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, analyse site traffic, and improve your experience.

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as your religion, political views, health information, or biometric data.

2. How We Use Your Information ▲

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • To fulfil your orders: Processing payments, arranging delivery, and providing order updates.
  • To manage your account: Creating and maintaining your account, verifying your identity, and providing customer support.
  • To communicate with you: Sending order confirmations, delivery updates, return notifications, and responses to your enquiries.
  • To improve our service: Analysing how customers use the platform so we can fix issues and build better features.
  • To keep the platform safe: Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use.
  • For legal compliance: Meeting our obligations under Nigerian law, including tax and financial record-keeping requirements.
3. Marketing Communications ▲
  • By creating an account, you agree that Trenva may send you marketing communications — including exclusive deals, new product alerts, promotions, and newsletters — by email, SMS, or push notification.
  • You can opt out of marketing messages at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, adjusting your notification preferences in your account settings, or contacting [email protected].
  • Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages (order confirmations, delivery updates, security alerts) — those are necessary for your orders and cannot be disabled while you have an active account.
  • We will never sell your contact information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Who We Share Your Information With ▲

Trenva does not sell your personal data. We share your information only where necessary to operate the service:

  • Delivery partners: Your name, phone number, and delivery address are shared with the courier delivering your order — only what they need to complete the delivery.
  • Payment processors: Your payment details are processed by our certified payment partners (such as Paystack). They handle this data under their own privacy and security standards.
  • Legal authorities: Where required by Nigerian law, court order, or to investigate fraud and protect the safety of our users, we may disclose information to law enforcement or regulatory bodies.

We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own commercial use.

5. How We Protect Your Information ▲
  • All data transmitted between your device and Trenva is encrypted using industry-standard SSL/TLS technology.
  • Passwords are stored using secure one-way hashing — even our own staff cannot see your password.
  • Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel who need it to perform their duties.
  • Our servers are hosted in secure facilities with physical and network-level protections.
  • While we take every reasonable precaution, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. If you suspect any unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data ▲
  • Account data (name, email, phone) is kept for as long as your account is active.
  • Order records are retained to help resolve any future issues with your purchases — including returns, disputes, warranty claims, and financial reconciliation. This also meets our legal record-keeping obligations.
  • Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or close your account.
  • Technical logs (such as security and access logs) are retained for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised.
  • When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymised so it can no longer identify you.
7. Your Rights ▲

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Right to access: You may request a copy of the personal data Trenva holds about you.
  • Right to correction: You may update your name, phone number, and address directly in your account settings. For other corrections, contact [email protected].
  • Right to deletion: You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time. When you close your account, we will delete your personal information except for order records we are legally required to retain (see section 6).
  • Right to object: You may object to marketing communications or certain uses of your data at any time.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

8. Account Deletion ▲
  • You may delete your account at any time from your account settings or by contacting [email protected].
  • Your account cannot be deleted while you have pending orders, unresolved disputes, or outstanding wallet balances. Please resolve these first.
  • On deletion, your personal information (name, email, phone, address) is removed from our active systems.
  • Anonymised order records may be retained for legal, tax, and financial auditing purposes, but they will no longer be linked to your identity.
9. Children's Privacy ▲

Trenva is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we discover that a child has created an account, we will delete the account and associated personal data promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact [email protected].

10. Cookies and Tracking ▲
  • Essential cookies: Required for the site to work — keeping you signed in, remembering your cart, and processing checkout.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the site (for example through Google Analytics) so we can improve it. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
  • Preference cookies: Remember your settings such as language and currency preferences.
11. Changes to This Policy ▲

Trenva may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our services grow or as legal requirements change. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email at least 7 days before they take effect.

Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Contact Us ▲

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your data rights have been violated.
